Incredible value

If you need an ultra-high capacity drive, look into traditional spinning disks. If you need ultra-fast, look into nvme drive. But if you just need a modest capacity drive with an outstanding price-to-performance this is your drive. Older computers with traditional spinning disk drives can get immense speedup when upgrading to an SSD drive like this one. The only downside is you'll either need to reinstall your operation system, or you'll need to use some fancy disk manager software that can clone your old drive onto this new one -- a challenging task for most.

Good budget drive

This seems so far to be a pretty nice budget SSD. Note that it is ONLY the drive; out of the box it's suitable for direct installation in a PC. The laptop it was intended for doesn't have an open SATA drive bay (and it doesn't support SATA 3.0 anyway), so I had to find a powered enclosure in order to use the drive. Once I did find one, the drive was recognized immediately by Windows 10, formatted quickly and was usable within minutes. My son transferred some of his PC games over to this drive with no problems.

The Best Feature Is The Low Price, Plastic Case Not Great For Cooling, Cheap But Functional

At just $15.99 (as of this review) this 256GB SSD is an amazing bargain. There is an aspect of you get what you pay for: cheap seeming plastic case & no DRAM caching. My general impression is I would use this drive for things I would not be upset losing. Maybe a troubleshooting laptop, a kids gaming PC or similar or similar.

It is fast within the limits of SATA III 6GBs speed for large files. Much slower for lots if little files. Slower for both writing than reading. This is similar to other SATA SSD drives Ive used in the past though I think the large file speed vs small file slowness gulf I think is noticeably wider in my unscientific testing copying files back and forth.

Not really a whole lot else to say about this drive. It might be 4 stars at a more conventional price but at the current low price it delivers better than I expected and thats 5 stars.

Lightweight, accurate, easy install

I ordered this 256GB SSD to use as an external backup drive for my laptop. While I had already upgraded the laptops original spinner HD to a SSD a few years ago so it would be faster and more reliable, I still know its not a bad idea to have a backup of at least my stuff. Now with an external SSD, I can do that in a fraction of the time it would've taken had I actually attempted with the original HD.

This drive is surprisingly light, yet feels like a quality, well made device. Installation into my external HD carrier was simple. The tabs/pins lined up perfectly and the SSD slid right in with a satisfying snap that assured me it was seated properly. Upon plugging in the carriers USB cable, it was immediately acknowledged by the computer (though the partition still needed to be set up). Opening the Computer Management applet in Windows 10, the drive was instantly displayed. From there it was just letting Windows set up the partition for me. A few seconds later, it was all done, and subsequently recognized as a fully functional read/write drive.

Im not savvy enough to run benchmarking and whatnot to give stats about that, but for my use, copying and reading files seemed essentially instantaneous like Id expect with a SSD.

So far, its operating exactly as expected and has presented no issues. That, paired with build quality, and of course the amazingly affordable price, this line of SSDs seems to be a great deal. Ill update if any issues arise, but for now, totally recommended with five stars!
